We provide the highest standard of professional care, specialising in Gynaecology, Nursing, Dietetics and Psychology Dr Geoff Otton is the most experienced Gynaecological Oncologist in Newcastle, having worked in the field for over 20 years. With his extensive experience, 30 years as a husband as well as a father of two daughters, Dr Otton has a strong appreciation of the issues affecting women’s health.

OUR SERVICES

Gynaecologic Cancers

Dr Otton has been treating women with gynaecologic cancers for 25 years, and was the first specialist in Newcastle to perform laparoscopic hysterectomies. Over this time, he has used what he's learned to share his knowledge with other gynaecologists and gynaecologic oncologists.

Colposcopy

If you have been referred with an abnormal cervical screening test, our friendly, compassionate and extremely experienced staff will help you through this. Dr Otton has had over 25 years’ experience performing colposcopies.

Dietetics

Healthy eating is essential to being at your best and meeting the challenges of life. At LWH we are dedicated to ensuring that you are provided with the best possible advice with realistic expectations and strategies to help. Please ask our staff how to arrange an appointment.

Psychology

Mental wellbeing goes hand in hand with managing your health related issues. In particular, Cath has extensive experience in helping women cope with the stress of cancer diagnosis and treatment. Please ask our staff about making an appointment.

Gynaecology

While Dr Otton has specialised in the treatment of cancer, he also manages women with conditions such as ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, bleeding in menopausal women and fibroids

Menopause

Most women will be menopausal for about 40% of their lives and this poses a variety of challenges including hot flushes, insomnia, sexual problems and osteoporosis . Dr Otton and his team can help you to manage this and guide you to better health

OUR TEAM

Geoff Otton

Gynaecologic Oncologist & Gynaecologist

Dr Otton is a specialist gynaecologic oncologist and gynaecologist. He trained in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle and won the Royal Australian and NZ College of O&G Medal. Dr Otton has a wealth of experience with exceptional surgical skills and is often called in to support colleagues with surgically difficult patients in gynaecology and obstetrics. He has previously been an examiner for RANZCOG, Director of Gynaecologic Oncology Unit at JHH and has served on multiple committees at College level.

He has an empathetic approach to medicine and strongly believes in providing evidence based care with compassion and great communication.

 

Allison & Susanna

 Admin / Secretary

 

Allison and Susanna are our friendly and approachable secretaries. They have many years of experience and knowledge in women’s health and cancer and understand the stress involved for women in sorting out appointments and surgery. They will do their best to ensure that you receive an appointment as early as possible and have enough information to make your experience at Lambton Women’s Health as comfortable and stress free as possible

Sharon & Rosie

Nursing

 

Sharon and Rosie are highly trained nurses with extensive experience in all facets of nursing. Sharon has over 20 years’ experience in nursing, particularly in specialty areas including surgery, recovery, high dependency units and oncology. Rosie has extensive experience working as nurse in ICU and trauma units in America and Australia. Sharon and Rosie have excellent assessment and problem-solving skills as well as ability to communicate efficiently and empathetically with patients. They are approachable and friendly and are available to help you with any concerns

Cath Adams

Psychologist

 

Cath Adams completed her qualifications in clinical psychology at University of Newcastle (UoN) and helped establish the psychology clinic there. She has worked with people with disabilities and victims of crime before moving into psycho -oncology and establishing a service at the Calvary Mater in 2001. Subsequently she completed post graduate qualifications in Psycho-Oncology through UoN as well as fellowships in Psycho-Oncology through the University of Melbourne and CINSW. In 2011, Cath commenced work in gyn oncology at JHH and also with Genesis Cancer Care. She has extensive experience working with women diagnosed with cancer and has a special interest in helping women manage the hormonal changed that occur due to treatment for cancer.

Laura Otton

Dietician

 

Laura is an enthusiastic and friendly dietitian. She has worked clinically in both private practice and hospital settings and has experience working with families who have a child with a disability as well as in eating disorders and mental health. Laura is committed to providing the best evidence-based approach to nutrition and has completed a systematic review of the nutritional complications following weight loss surgery. She is experienced in providing nutrition support therapy and counselling in oncology, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions, PCOS, pregnancy and fertility, healthy eating and weight management. Laura is passionate about working with you to provide realistic and practical healthy lifestyle changes.
